It is primarily a postwar and later community, with the residential expansion here happening in waves from the 1950s through the 1990s as families moved further from Providence in search of more space and a more rural setting.

The other thing about Coventry's housing is that the extra lot space that drew people here often means there is room to think about the project differently. A full kitchen renovation in a Coventry Colonial with a large footprint is a different project than the same renovation in a compact Cranston ranch. There is more opportunity to rethink the layout, add a proper island, or open the kitchen to a sunroom or deck.
